Strictly speaking, I have been producing for over 9 years already. However, I only became serious about it in late 2015. I wouldn't consider anything I did before that as actual music production.
Formerly Reason 4, now Ableton Live. I caught a glimpse of Steinberg's Cubase somewhere in between but didn't like it that much.
I can recommend Xfer's Serum as soft-synth and a membership at splice for getting all kinds of samples (drums, vocals, ambience, etc.).
I go by the artist name "Creo" and only use the other alias when that name is already taken (like on twitter, newgrounds, etc.).
